We closely work with diverse communities to gain insights about their mental health needs and co-create innovative solutions to address these needs. We are an inclusive team of staff and volunteers who have various backgrounds, including psychology, education, business, and the arts.

Asra is a Ph.D. Candidate of Counseling Psychology at McGill University. Her interests have focused on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in mental health services. She believes that everyone should be provided with the right care and resources to experience wellness.
The social justice values have guided her leadership and community-based initiatives.
Asra collaborates with the team at CMHE to design and deliver innovative programs that respond to communities’ needs. To do so, she aims at building meaningful partnerships with communities and other organizations. She appreciates the value and impact that sound governance can afford an organization. In her free time, Asra enjoys reading and writing Persian poems and literature, hiking, and spending time in nature. “Nature teaches me how to have harmony in my life,” Asra says.

Shiva Zarezadeh-Kheibari
PhD, RCC. Board Director

Shiva holds a PhD in Psychology and has over a decade of research experience focused on improving mental health outcomes for children and youth with special needs in educational and community settings. As a Training and Development Lead, she assesses training needs, designs and develops mental health-related curricula, and facilitates community-based trainings. Shiva collaborates with stakeholders to align training initiatives with organizational goals and ensures content is tailored in culturally-informed ways to meet diverse learning needs. Shiva is passionate about integrating art into mental health education and advocacy. She is dedicated to raising awareness around diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a particular focus on valuing the lived experiences of children and adolescents from ethnocultural minorities. Shiva strives to foster an inclusive and empowering culture within CMHE that welcomes all communities. In her spare time, she enjoys watercolor painting, sculpting, spending time in nature, traveling, and connecting with friends and family.

Mina Didehvar
Board Director

Mina is a Ph.D. student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Calgary. Her interests have focused on non-pathologizing and decolonizing approaches to psychology and mental health issues. Mina has advocated for the mental health and adjustment experiences of minority populations, such as international students and immigrants through research, clinical practice, and community-based initiatives.
Mina’s collaboration with CMHE provides an opportunity to continue fulfilling her values of creating a more equitable community and empowering underserved populations. Mina creates meaning and balance in her life through yoga, journaling, and reading literature.
